Young Bosses in Business Shifts Focus to Youth Well-Being
For several years, sisters Sariah and Ariella Morgan have helped young entrepreneurs grow their businesses through their organization, Young Bosses in Business (YBIB). Now, they are taking a new approach aimed at empowering young people beyond entrepreneurship. Their new initiative, Journey to Self, seeks to help youth build confidence, explore their identities, and prioritize mental health and personal growth.
Introducing 'Journey to Self'
Journey to Self is set to launch officially in 2027, but the Morgans are offering an early opportunity for youth to experience its programming at a free pre-launch event. The event will take place on November 7, from noon to 5 p.m., at the Malton Youth Hub – Jonathan Davis Centre in Mississauga. Youth ages six to 18 are welcome to attend, with parents and caregivers also invited to join.
The programming is designed to encourage self-discovery, creative expression, and wellness. Participants will engage in hands-on activities focusing on movement and confidence, finding one’s voice, self-care techniques, and creative exercises that promote self-expression and identity exploration.
Empowering Youth Beyond Entrepreneurship Support
Youth programs run by YBIB have traditionally centered on entrepreneurship support. Founded by Sariah Morgan at age 11, with Ariella then five, YBIB was born out of their experiences as young entrepreneurs selling their cosmetics brand, iAH Beauty, in adult markets. They found that young business owners often faced challenges and a lack of recognition. This inspired them to create a supportive community for youth entrepreneurs and led to the development of workshops, youth markets, and practical learning initiatives such as Young Boss in the Making and Mini Boss in the Making programs.
However, the Morgans realized that personal growth and confidence are fundamental to entrepreneurial success and overall well-being. “We’ve spent years helping kids start their businesses and become leaders, but we also know that confidence and knowing who you are play a huge role in that,” Sariah Morgan told Now Toronto. This understanding motivated their new focus on programming aimed at building self-confidence and supporting youth mental health.
A Program Built on Personal Experience
Sariah and Ariella’s journey began from their own experiences as youth entrepreneurs. Their initial challenges in adult-dominated markets highlighted the need for spaces where young people could be celebrated for their ideas and efforts. YBIB now operates youth markets at Bramalea City Centre and Square One and hosts programs covering customer service, financial literacy, marketing, and leadership skills for young participants.
The Journey to Self initiative builds upon these efforts by emphasizing that the individual behind the business matters. “It goes beyond entrepreneurship, and it focuses on the person behind the goals, dreams, and achievements,” Morgan said. The event and upcoming program are designed to help youth feel valued for who they are, offering support and encouragement for their personal journeys as much as their business ambitions.
Upcoming Pre-Launch Event Details
The Journey to Self pre-launch event on November 7 is a chance for young people and their families to experience the program before its full launch in 2027. The event invites participants to enjoy interactive workshops and creative sessions focused on well-being, confidence, and identity.
Those interested in attending can register for free through Eventbrite. The initiative also coincides with YBIB’s upcoming fifth anniversary in 2027, marking half a decade of supporting youth entrepreneurs and now expanding that support to personal and creative growth.
